دراسة جدوى تطوير المرحلة الثانية من مشروع رابغ


Rabigh Project Phase II –Feasibility Study

Petro Rabigh Management is pleased to inform you that on Sunday, April 19, 2009, Petro Rabigh signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and Sumitomo Chemical Company of Japan, the main shareholders in Petro Rabigh, to perform the feasibility study for the potential Rabigh Project - Phase II for the purpose of expanding of the Refining and Petrochemicals Complex.

Signing this Memorandum of Understanding is another important step in the continuous development of joint initiatives between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical to build one of the largest integrated refining and petrochemical facilities in the world. The project will contribute to satisfying the ever-growing global demand for high quality refining and petrochemical products and developing the petrochemical and related industries in the Kingdom. It will supply the local and global markets with commercial quantities of a variety of petrochemicals most of which will be produced for the first time in the kingdom.

According to this Memorandum of Understanding, the feasibility study will be performed as an initiative from Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical with logistical support from Petro Rabigh and will not entail any expenditure or other commitments from Petro Rabigh. After positive results of the study are confirmed, Petro Rabigh will be called in for a decision relevant to the project execution.

يسر إدارة شركة بترورابغ ان تعلمكم أن الشركة وقعت مذكرة تفاهم مع شركتي أرامكو السعودية وسوميتومو كيميكال اليابانية، يوم أمس الأحد 23 ربيع الثاني 1430هـ الموافق 19 أبريل 2009م، لإجراء دراسة جدوى تطوير المرحلة الثانية من مشروع رابغ، وذلك بهدف عمل توسعة رئيسة لمجمع تكرير المواد البترولية وإنتاج البتروكيماويات الخاص "بالمرحلة الأولى من مشروع رابغ".

ويعد توقيع المذكرة خطوة هامة أخرى في طريق التطور المستمر للمشاريع المشتركة بين أرامكو السعودية وسوميتومو كيميكال لإنشاء واحد من أكبر المرافق المتكاملة في العالم للتكرير وإنتاج البتروكيماويات. وسيسهم هذا المشروع في تلبية الطلب المتزايد عالمياً على منتجات الطاقة عالية الجودة، وتطوير الصناعات التكميلية والتحويلية بالمملكة، وسوف ينتج كميات تجارية ومتنوعة من المواد البتروكيماوية، أغلبها يتم إنتاجه لأول مرة في المملكة.


وبموجب هذه المذكرة ستقوم أرامكو السعودية وسوميتومو كيميكال بدراسة جدوى المشروع كمبادرة من الشركتين، بينما توفر بترورابغ الدعم والمساندة، دون أن يترتب على بترورابغ أية تكاليف أو إلتزامات مالية أو غيرها. ومن المتوقع أن تنتهي أعمال هذه الدراسة خلال الربع الثالث من العام 2010م. وبمجرد التأكد من الجدوى الاقتصادية لمشروع رابغ – المرحلة الثانية، سيتم دعوة بترورابغ لإتخاذ القرار حول البدء بتنفيذ المشروع.
